Like.I'm pretty sure none of the dynamic EQ's/multiband compressors in the gold bundle can accept individual key signals. That said, there's some stuff I'm bummed about. The fact that the REQ gives a spectrogram under the EQ curve is just so useful - I can now SEE my changes, and it has helped me a lot with figuring out what to change about a track. Usability wise, I'm loving them! I haven't tried everything yet, but I've started to use the Renaissance EQ in place of my normal EQ after only a week.

So I only just started using them, which means I don't have the "experience over time" gripes that other folks have - I got the Gold Bundle (at a discount) out of necessity for my Berklee certification.
#WAVES 9 BUNDLE WINDOWS 10#
I have been upgrading my OS continuously since I went to Windows 10 several years ago, and I have Waves apps from 2013 that still work fine. I can only assume they are on Mac, since Windows users generally don't have that problem. Lastly, some have complained that their plugins may not work after an OS upgrade. It's a little like having a second ilok (another controversial subject), but since I'm on a desktop it doesn't bother me. On their advice I authorized them to a thumb drive instead of my computer.
#WAVES 9 BUNDLE UPDATE#
I complained to customer support (after they said the only option was to update for something like $350) and they unlocked them for me to authorize one more time.
#WAVES 9 BUNDLE UPGRADE#
So, about the Upgrade Plan, which has already bit me once: I swapped out my motherboard twice in the same calendar year (long story) and the second time I couldn't authorize my Waves plug-ins. I'm currently weighing pulling the trigger on the entire Abbey Roads bundle since I already have three of them.

I love their new plugins and you generally can't beat the sale prices.
#WAVES 9 BUNDLE HOW TO#
H-Comp, Abbey Road TG12345 and Kramer PIE compressor are some more favorites, and I'm learning how to use the CLA Echosphere and DBX 160 comp/limiter. Abbey Road Chambers, IR-1 and Kramer Master Tape make it on almost every mix. My experience - I like the Waves plug-ins I use. Of course, no one ever actually pays that much (I certainly never have).
#WAVES 9 BUNDLE FULL#
It should be mentioned that it doesn't matter how much you paid for the plug-in (even a free deal) the WUP is based on the full retail price, which is usually anywhere from $100-$300US. So, lots of comments that the plug-ins are good, or at least reasonable, but the Update Plan is a terrible way to run a business. But as I said, I won’t be giving them any more of my money for the same old tired ass plugins that haven’t actually been updated or upgraded save for OS compatibility. I still use the ones I have because I have them, they work and sometimes for a delay having something that sounds a little different from other plugins is good enough. As I said, they’re not bad plugins - you can still make great recordings with them. It doesn’t mean that they’re the best plugins out there. Just about every major studio uses Pro Tools for partly the same reason: they invested heavily in it when there weren’t many alternatives (for Pro Tools it’s double because there was a time when you had to have Digidesign/Avid hardware to use it, and the HD interfaces such as the 192 were crazy expensive not to mention for high track count setups you needed more than one). Every major studio uses them because they all invested heavily in them 10-20 years ago. Doesn’t excuse Waves’ shitty business practices.
